Day-to-Day Happiness - Guaranteed

This is going to be a brief tete-a-tete. As complicated as life is today, we find it difficult to be happy. Our minds are constantly running with day-to-day stresses, routine chores, assignments, projects, goals, and whatnot. Working people are stuck at work, probably with nasty bosses, and homemakers have household chaos. Businessmen have their own worries. How is it possible to be happy each day in such an environment?
I will share my personal thoughts on this, but please note that this may not be the only way to do it. You may have your views on this, and I would be happy to learn through your comments below.

First of all, at least sometimes, be present where you are and genuinely interested in the people around you. I know it is not always possible with the phone doing half the things for you. But whenever possible, sneak in those few minutes and talk to people around you. Your colleague, classmate, house help, peon or whoever is around you. Be genuinely interested in their lives. We don't realise it, but listening to others' problems and lives gives us a great perspective on our lives too. Suddenly, our problems may shrink in size and feel minute.

Second, appreciate genuinely, no matter who it is: the long-lost classmate, the old friend, the random online friend, the distant cousin, the ex-colleague, that parent friend, and so on.
I recently interacted with an old school friend and told her how much I appreciated her in my school days. She immediately told me it made her day because she was also not having a great day at work. Simple acts of appreciation make the giver and the receiver feel so good that I cannot emphasize it enough.
You would have done these things yourself, but not quite consciously. Start doing it with more purpose. See how it uplifts you and the person interacting with you. Have a good day!
