I Promise You it Gets Better - But How?

If you follow me on Instagram, you know I just launched my book I Promise You it Gets Better: Preventing, Finding Your Way Back, and Recovering From Depression.

What is special about it and how does it get better?

Here I will explain it all to you 🙂

So this is version two of the book I originally chose to call "My Happy Book."

Ironical isn't it? But yes I intended to make it a happy ending (typical bollywood... he he he).

Basically, I fell into depression around 2018. I will not get into how and what here - you can read the book for that. The point is I recovered fully by 2020 and did not need further treatment after that. It is a big milestone because not many people even identify depression, let alone go for treatment and recover. In the book, I talk about my story and cover all the aspects of depression that a layman needs to know in simple terms.

So you also learn about

  • What is depression

  • What can be the possible causes

  • Current situation in India relating to depression

  • What are the identifying symptoms

  • What you should do if you feel you are depressed

  • Steps in treatment

  • The types of treatment

  • Whether medication is needed and why it may or may not be necessary

  • What should you do

  • What people around you should do

  • Myths about depression that also keep you away from treatment

  • Four detailed worksheets for following up on your moods, symptoms and treatment

  • And much more!

How do you benefit from the book if you are not depressed?

I will be answering this from the reader perspective, based on the reviews I got from version one of the book. These were from both men and women of different age groups (20-40), although women found it more relatable. Almost every reader identified something they missed in themselves or someone around them. They got around to identify certain patterns and things they could not earlier. They also understood what to do if they or someone around them is depressed and could bust a lot of myths around it. No reader was left untouched after reading the book - everyone got back to me saying how it connected with them.

Worksheets included in this version of the book are also very useful in identifying and understanding different stages of depression, symptoms, following up on treatment, etc.

It is very important to support someone going through depression for faster and efficient recovery. Most of the times, people going through depression or any other mental health issues are never offered support to take professional treatment which is a major cause of concern. Most such issues are completely treatable with early intervention. But because they are still considered a taboo in our society, they lost out on getting cured. When mental health issues aggravate, they can lead to severe consequences that may not be reversible. Which is why it is always better to gain some basic understanding about it so that you can help yourself as well as your loved ones from unwanted suffering.

If you want to read the book, please go ahead and get it from Amazon - both eBook and paperback versions are available (Links given below - paperback will be available in a few days). Read and let me know if you could connect to it and if it helped you in some way. 🫡
